The district will continue to use the Everyday Math program, which builds upon a number of areas covered in third grade such as, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, place value, measurement, and geometry. This program emphasizes problem solving and activities that promote higher level thinking skills. Each unit comes with a newsletter describing what your child will learn. The newsletter will also include help with the daily math homework, so please keep this newsletter handy. Third graders learn their multiplication facts and much is forgotten over the summer! It is essential that you begin reviewing facts up to 10x10 each night. This will help your child be more successful in math, since so much of fourth grade math includes multiplication.
